*The Canadian Oil-Sands is a good example Movement. The oil-sands are providing rich oil for provinces in the area near to it, and also to our country. Because Canada has that area of muddy, watery, sandy oil,
ReplyDeletewe in the U.S. import a lot of oil from Canada through a major pipeline, plus other minor pipelines! They share with us, it's nice.
*The Canadian oil-sands have affected Canada both positively and negatively in many ways. It is positive because the area has provided
not only oil for the country, but also provides money to the country because the U.S. buys so much oil from Canada. The negative, not so good thing about the oil-sands in the area is it's gross. The area itself, and the area within miles and miles of the Canadian Oil-sands is muddy, and oily, sandy, and just sloshy. The water around it in lakes and rivers is polluted with oil. Not so very clean if I do say so myself. ):P

The Canadian Oil Sands is directly involved with Human Environment Interaction. I feel this way because the oil mines in Northern Alberta have drastically changed the region and vegetation in that area. The people in this part of Canada were used to nature and never ending forest in their backyard, now all they see are dark, gooey pits that are killing wildlife and polluting the waters and streams. This region went from green to brown in a rapid period of time. Human Environment Interaction is how people interact and change the land. In Canada, the people in the oil industry have changed the land majorly and this has affected wildlife and vegetation in this area forever.
ReplyDeleteThere are many positive and negative affects of the oil sand pits in Canada. The positive ways are as follow: the pits provide many jobs for many citizens. These jobs help people support their families in this time of recession, the surplus amount of oil harvested can be sold to other countries for profit such as U.S., and finally oil is a necessity for everyday life for many people. With out oil people would not be able to have electricity and drive cars. The oil sand pits also have very negative affects. The dark sticky pits have taken away beautiful forest and nature, killed many animals such as ducks who have landed in the pits thinking it was a lake, and have caused lots of pollution to the air and water of Canada. Overall, the Canadian Oil Sand Pits have a mix of positive and negative affects.
~Emily Bayer
This article like Emily said is directly connected with human environment interaction, for these reasons. The mining process in which get the oil is like they said, using gold to make lead. Which means they're using clean fuel to get one of the dirtiest fuels out there. Which thus affects the environment, to process the oil out of the sand causes large amounts of CO2, which is one of the major pollution problems.
ReplyDeleteThis oil mining effects Canada in both a positive and negative. A negative effect in the CO2 affects the environment by causing the pollution levels to rise, obviously affecting people’s health. Also the pollution could even cause some species of animals to have to move out of area causing food problems for other animals who depend on the animal that is leaving. The mining affects Canada in a positive way in that that the mining brings money to the country, also mining provides jobs for the country. That is how the mining affects Canada both positively and negatively.
Zach Sobolewski
This article is connected to human environment interaction in many ways. The process in which this oil is harvested has a very large impact on the environment. Not only is the process to extract this oil extremely harsh, the oil itself is a major pollutant of the surrounding rivers, lakes, and streams.
ReplyDeleteThere also are many positive outcomes of harvesting this crude oil. One positive outcome is the revenue gained by the Canadian government from this oil. Not only does the government gain money, there are also many jobs created. But with every positive, there are also negatives. One negative is the pollution that is created. This pollution spreads into surrounding areas and pollutes lakes like the one the 500 ducks landed in. While the oil industry may be booming, it does not come without a price. A price future generations will be forced to pay.

This artical is related to human enviorment interaction. The digging for oil in Canada is destroying the enviorment. It is causing a huge amount of polution and destroying the home of the many animals that live in Canada. It is also turning the beautiful forests that grow there into dirty and dangerous oil mines.
ReplyDeleteThese oil sands have effected the country of Canada positivly because of the resources. The oil that is collected can be used for many things, like energy. Also, as Emily said, the pits supply jobs, which are greatly needed in the economy. However, this is a negative thing because of the pollution it causes to the enviorment. As stated in the previous paragraph, these mines are dirty and dangerous. They destroy the homes of animals and the forest. The mines are also very expensive and can cause debate amoung the citizens of Canada.
-Riley Claude
This article is very closely related to Human-enviroment interaction. It is because, the more oil that we drill for the more and more we are ruining the land and polluting the air around us. It is also ruining the other lakes in the area.
ReplyDeleteThe positive part of the Canadian oil sands is that it provides the United States with oil for our own uses. It also provides people with jobs to work in these areas. This is also a very negative thing because of all the pollution that the mines are causing and they also are very dangerous for the workers who have to go down in the mines
-Nick Jacobsen
This article is related majorly to human environment interaction. The humans are destroying the land and taking a huge advantage of the resources the earth gave them. They are not only using up the natural resources, they aren't disposing of them in a clean way, which is also affecting wildlife and polluting the earth.
ReplyDeleteYes, this situation has both positive and negative effects, but it is overwhelmingly negative, from my standpoint. First of all, they obviously seriously depleat the supply of natural resources that will still be needed in the future if we don't find alternate energy sources. Harvesting the oil sands gives us energy, too, which is a positive thing, for now. However, they also pollute the earth and harm the animals. They also take up land and take down forests. The only other thing I see as positive is that it helps the economy, by giving Canadians jobs, and being a great trade product.
-Lauren Bieter
The Canadian oil-sand relates to movement, because in the beginning of the article it stated how the people who lived there didn't have accessed to goods and services. For food they hunted, for an income they traded skins, such as beaver skin. The people liked it this way... up until the government intervened....this logging is a positive effect for Canada, because this way... more people who live in the country will have more access to goods and services, and will be able to be more social with everyone because of this logging out. I think it's a negative effect for Canada, because the people who lived in the area didn't know they were going to log it out, so like the guy who lost his dad's cabin... he lost everything. The people are going to be furious about this, and they might want to rebelled against the government... I think the government should have voted or at least warned the people what was going to happen, so that way if the people were going to lose something, they would have a chance to keep it.
ReplyDelete-Katie Filkins
This is connected to human environment interaction because people are taking the oil and using it as an energy source, and their using it for jobs. they are easily getting the oil whereas in many cases they have to find oil deposits and drill for them in the oceans, Alaska, Etc.
ReplyDeleteThis is negative because it is really polluting the land and it could easily seep into the water systems and potentially ruining them beyond saving. it could killing animals, it could be harming natural habitats. but positively it is a very easy source for oil which many predict will run out soon, its cheaper to get, it provides jobs which are especially essential with the economic crisis.
This news artical has to do with human environment interaction. Back in the day Canada used to be a place with beautiful futures, where the wild life kept growing. I am not saying that cananda is not a beautiful place anymore, we are just using so much of the land for our needs, an example; drilling holes for oil. We are affecting wildlife and polluting the streams or small bodies of water near by. If we keep drilling for oil at this rate then who knows what the land will look like later on. For all we know we could ruin the land and never get it back to the way it was.
ReplyDeleteThere are some postive things about drilling for oil. This is giving many people jobs. In this economy we all would like jobs. Also, Canada is taking in a huge amout of money for their oil each year. The United States plays a big role in that, most of our oil is from Canada. There are also negative affects. We are taking away land that could be homes for either wildlife or homes for us. It is polluting the water, which can cause the animals to die or to get ill. By getting more oil it will just convince us to use more of it, which will pollute our air and cause many other problems. Over all there are many pros and cons for drilling oil.
Canadian oil sands can be applied to human environment interaction. Other companies like Syncrude, which is Canada’s mast oil producer, digs bitumen-laced sand right out of the ground to produce crude oil. They cleared the vast forest to get what they want. Companies do this to make profit, which they have to spend a little to get a little, and they also mine crude oil to help the economy and its oil problem.
ReplyDeleteThe Canadian oil sands have affected Canada in many ways. The miners have to clear thousands of trees and tons of earth to get what they want, oil. The industries have also moved many animals from their habitat including ducks. Migrating ducks are getting killed because they try to land in the oil. The Canadian oil sands also create a problem in emissions to. Burning a barrel of crude oil from the sand emits three times more carbon dioxide. Mining oil from Canada helps out the oil problems of all of United States. The U.S. is running out of oil fast and eventually it will be to late. It’s also helping us to find new technology without using any natural resources.
Canadian oil sands is related to human environment interaction. One reason that it is applied to human environment interaction is because the people of Syncrude are taking advantage of the land and using it to get rich oil. They aren't thinking about what will happen to the animals or things surrounding the area. They got rid of whatever they needed just to get something that they wanted.
ReplyDeleteCanadian oil-sands have affected Canada both positively and negetively. Ways that it affects it in positive ways is that it is easy access to oil. It gives many people jobs, and Canada also takes in money from it. Canada is also affected negetively. just by drilling for oil in this one area takes away many trees. thats taking away habitats for animals. Its also killing animals because the water may get polluted, which could also cause us to get sick. It is ruining land. It takes away an advantage to use that land for building houses or homes for the people of Canada.
~Kate Kroska(:
I would definatly connect this one to human enviroment interaction. All of the problems they listed were because of some aspect of the oil sands. They are sort of destroying their own home, espeicially with the ponds made for waste. Those are horrible for the enviroment and they think that a couple of scare crows will save all of the animals that are just following their natural instinct to get water. That is ridiculous, when we don't take care of our enviroment nothing is in the way of preventing us from destroying our only home.
ReplyDeleteThe Canadian oil sands have positive and negative affects. I can see how they want them there because it is a huge money maker i mean they said that they mine like 60,000 barrels of oil a day. That is huge in making a boom in the economy. Negative affects are plentifull. It is horrible for the enviroment, they said that their mining trucks use fifty gallons of gas in an hour! Also the ponds are grody and the fish in the river are starting to be affected. I agree with there last poll results of holding off any more mining until enviromental issues are addressed.
Elissa Koele
This applies to Human Environment Interaction because where there was once trees and wildlife, and even someone’s cabin, there is know a big open pit mine used to mine synthetic crude oil. Us Humans had to cut down forests, and ruin landscape so we can get to our precious oil. Sure oil is super useful to our everyday lives, and we use it all the time, but the process we take to get this oil is harming our natural environment such as forests and lakes, they have uprooted sand and dirt and have caused animals to lose their natural habitat.
ReplyDeleteThis affects Canada positively because it allows them to export the oil and use if for themselves, but it also gives jobs to more people. This helps with their unemployment rate. These jobs give people health care and it also provides a youth center and other services that the people can benefit from. It affects Canada negatively because it ruins the natural life that is in Canada. It ruins home for animals and the goodness of the land. It is an expensive process and it produces a lot of carbon dioxide into the air.
Cassie Murphy
Human enviroment interaction plays the biggest role in the Canadian Oil Sands. With once was a lushes forest is now gooey water pits that take seven years for sedemint to settle in and a century to dry naturaly. How people have taken the habitat of many woodland creatures and turned it into a black pit, is compleatly human enviroment interaction. Pollution is also part of it, causing holes in the ozone.
ReplyDeleteTHE oil sands have many affects on Canada both positive and negitive. Pollution of the air and water around it. Killing off the habitat of many animals (humans too), are the negetives. The five people who live downstream who have devolped a very rare cancer in a community of like 1000 people just seems odd to me. 500 ducks dying from the gooey lake they landed in, and the fishes livers working five times harder then normal. It is just sad and think the pollution could have also affected you, some the fish have been tested for mercury and came back positive. Many benefits come to the community of Fort McMurray have gaind much from the oil harvesting. The community which created everything theirselves now has access to many goods. The unemployment here is also unbelieable, under 5%. The money recieved for the oil must be a huge sum of cash when they sell 19% of the oil the U.S uses to the U.S.
Lee Boles
The oil sands of Canada relate to Human Inviroment Interaction, because the canadian people take advantage of their oil rich land and do what they can to extract, use, and sell their oil suplies. since canada has such a large surplus of oil they are able to sell much of it for good profit. Canada is the united State's number one place to buy oil.
ReplyDeleteCanada's oil sands have many goods and bads. For example the oil sands obviosly produce oil useable to the nation and can also be sold for profit. Bad things also come from the oil sands of canada, such as water pollution, clear cutting of forests, and killing of many animals, including fish and birds, due to oil spills and air pollution. oil sand are also very dangerous to work at because of the deep and thick sludgey waste that is not used.
I think this article applies to Human Environment Interaction because people in Canada who are making these oil sands are destroying the land. They are also taking away from the animals and plants that are living in the area. What they are accomplishing is destroying the land by digging it up and by then selling their finds to people, which they use to pollute air. They have been mining for oil in this area since the early 1960’s. The land is being sucked dry in the area and others, and will continue to be so unless we could find another way to live.
ReplyDeleteThe only positive thing about what Canada is doing is they are providing a product to supply their country with money from other countries and their citizens with heat, transportation, and others. One negative thing these companies are causing in the process is that they are taking away from people such as Jim Boucher and his grandfather when they took away his house so oil companies could make some money. The companies might have compensated them but the Boucher’s did not have a choice. Another negative thing is oil companies are DESTROYING THE LAND! Everyone is getting worked up about global warming and us destroying the world but then they turn around and let oil companies mine precious resources. People are mad about us destroying the world but it is all right when they are the ones making money off of it.
Melissa Wudarski
This article is directly involved with Human-Environment Interaction. A main point is that this land in Canada that hasn’t been touched since the 1960’s is being disturbed. Groups of miners are coming into the land and destroying it in order to mine for oil. The miners come in and overtake the land that had belonged to other people, and without warning they destroy habitat and the forests.
ReplyDeleteThese Canadian Oil Sands have affected the land in Canada both positively and negatively anyway that you look at it. The major one, negative, is obvious. While they mine, the land is turning into a dump area. There are no longer trees and wildlife there is only machinery. Although in a positive aspect, the miners that are searching and collecting oil are providing jobs for people in Canada. The mining also is giving Canada opportunity to sell the oil and export it to other country around the world that needs oil. It gives the country money and makes them altogether wealthy. The topic is very controversial in determining if Canada should really be drilled for oil, but it’s really up to the country and the people themselves if they are going to stand for it.
-Georgia Bowen
This article is a good example of human environment interaction. The canadian oil pit mine, are destroying natural wild life, where there was a forest, animals, and someones cabin. Now there is nothing but an ugly pit used to find oil just to start machines and power houses, but alot of it, just like it is mentioned in the article, is "dirty oil". People get that oil, by destroying everything that is near it just to get it. Just for some oil, people have to saw down a whole forest and dig deep pits, and it looks horrible and is ruining the land. As the world runs out of oil, countries will demand even more oil, and more land and forest will be destroyed. And it is possible that, not much will be left of the soil and forests, and the earth may become an ugly place.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that is positive about mining for oil in Canada, is that people are getting a profit out of it, and finding more places for oil. The negative side of this is not good at all. This type of mining and oil burns triple the amount of oil found in the middle east, by pumping it out of the ground. Mining is alot more expensive than pumping and it is ruining everything around it. In order for the world to be a cleaner place, people should takes steps to find better ways for getting power and decrease oil mining such as this one to make the world a better place
Movement.
ReplyDeleteIn the article by Robert Kunzig, National Geographic, it discusses the problems that have been occurring with the mines near the Boreal Forest in Canada. Movement has been defined by Mr. Ryan as the access to goods and services. The oil in Canada produces about 19 percent of the United States foreign oil and half of that comes from the oil sands in the Boreal Forest. Profit and expense is easily connected to the trade and buying of this oil not only for Canada but also for the United States. The article states that more than 50 billion dollars was spent during the last decade for this oil sands and more is to be spent over the next. Also the International Energy Agency has published a report containing a theory that in 2030 a barrel of oil will cost roughly around 120 dollars. The oil has obviously benefited Canada and the United States to help produce energy and such. Though this grand idea may not seem as great as it seems…
Positive and Negative Effects.
Canada has demolished and ruined the natural aspect of this Forest, and was proven last April when migrating ducks landed in a pond polluted by the remains of the oil sands and the ducks died a horrible and painful death. Also by taking down the forest the Chipewyan and Cree Indians were forced out of their homes and to a different location. Though the oil mines may not seem like a very positive production, it is. Canada produces a large amount of the oil the United States imports and receives a large sum of money for it as well. Canada holds a very large reserve of oil and with today’s economy oil is one of the most wanted products in the world. Canada surely has its ups and downs due to the oil sands located there, but in the end without the oil reserve Canada would definitely have a hard time trying to make profit for its country.

Hour 4 Geography.
This article has to do with human environment interaction. We use the land for oil. We mine for oil and made the land able to do that.People cut down trees and did whatever it took to get the land able to be use for our benifit, not noticing what it could do to our environment.also when the oil runs out they will not get money and trades they are used to getting.
ReplyDeleteThere are both positives and negitives to this issue. A positive is that Canada will use the oil for trade and profit. They will sell the oil to different countries or they could trade and get other goods in return.
A negitive is that it's harmful to the earth. They have to cut down trees and clear areas just so they can mine the oil. it's harmful to the enviornment and could catch up with us and we could start to wish we didn't do it.

I think this article is connected to Human Environment Interation. This is because the Canadian oil sands are causing pollution in many ways. It is giving off a lot of carbon dioxide and they are trying to capture this carbon dioxide but it cost a lot of money. The oil is also killing animals, like birds. Some birds have died from just landing in it. This is all because of humans interfering with the environment.
ReplyDeleteThese oil mines are both positive and negative. They are positive because it is bringing in money from other countries that are buying the oil. It is also proiving Canada and other countries with more oil, which everyone seems to want. They are negative because it is causing pollution. It is giving off a lot of carbon dioxide which is creating a problem. The pools of oil is killing some animals, which is another negative. It also destroyed some of the land and forests to create these mines. These are just a few of the positive and negatives affects that the Canadian oil-sands has on Canada.
Lydia Smith
This article is related to human environment interaction. This is because it talks about mining for synthetic crude oil in canada and how it affected the people and land there. What once was an untouched area that indians lived off of, was turned into a large open pit mine. They cut down trees and removed peat and dirt and sand to get to the oil. The mines dump wastewater in the ponds contaminating it so much that the sludge is high above the river. Some people also say there is mercury in the fish and the people have higher rates of cancer who live in this area. I feel it is not right to have mined this land because it was such a beautiful piece of land,of nature, that we have now destroyed. I understand that we need oil in the U.S.,however, I think it's a shame this land is changed forever. If we don't find ways to make changes to preserve areas like this for future generations, it will someday all be gone.
ReplyDeleteThis article has lots to do with Human Environment Interaction. The reason why is because the oil companies are digging up the land, and polluting water sources for wildlife. In the article it said that ducks died when they mistaked a tailing pond full of polluted water that ended up killing them all. Its causing lots of animals to die, and lots of forest to be cut down all because of Human Environment Interaction.
ReplyDeleteThis article talks much about the postive and negative effects of drilling. They are postive because they bring in money for Canada, and that they help create jobs. In ways they are negative are that they create lots of pollution, and that they destroy the environment. With the amount of pollution being created along with the amount of forest being destroyed, animals being killed off. This is why drilling for oil has both its postives and negatives.
Applying this artical to human-enviornment interaction is simple, people extract the oil from the land, but there is more to it. In my oinion, this is not a very good idea. Yes, it is wonderful that we get oil from the Earth, we're using the resources available to us. Although, is the amount of carbon dioxide this process of extracting the oil from these sandy dunes worth the amount of oil we recieve?
ReplyDeleteThis leads into the pros and cons...
The carbon dioxide emmitions is definetaly a con especially considering the amount of oil we recieve when in Saudi Aribia gets three times the oil for the same amout of pollution. Also a negative, the destruction of their forests due to the oil sands. On the positive side, though, the money Canada brings in with their oil industry is important to their economy. But do the substantial cons outweigh the pros?
Human-Environment Interaction is how the people change and use their environment. The Canadian Oil-Sands is directly connected to this because the land was changed drastically to get the oil. Like Boucher said, in the 1963 he went to his grandfather’s cabin and there was a huge, unexpected clearing. The forest was “mostly untouched” back then, and now it is almost non-existent. For every barrel of oil, the forest is cut down and 4 tons of dirt and sand is removed. This also affects the environment’s animals and its wildlife. Like the article said, last year 500 ducks died because they landed on a pond, thinking the oil on the surface was solid ground.
ReplyDeleteThe Canadian Oil-Sands is both positive and negative for Canada. It is positive because the country has a large amount of oil to trade to other countries and 19 percent of all of their country’s oil comes from the oil sands. The United States imports more oil from them than any other country in the world. Also, this creates many jobs. On the other hands, it costs a ton of money to drill for the oil. The process refining the oil also is contributing to the atmosphere’s CO2 problems. The oil sands is also hurting the forests and wildlife in Canada.
This deals with human enviromental interaction. The land which was filled with trees and cabins. Is now a pit full of mining and refinerys. The animals are effected and are almost non-existent. The waste from all the waste from the refinery is most likely leaking down to there fresh water sources. That is how the oil pit has been effecting the enviroment.
ReplyDeleteCanada is getting a major economical booste by either selling fuel to other countries. Or using it for themselves and saving money used for inported gas. It has tottaly demolished the land used to get the oil.which will be abadoned right after the last dropped has been used. Sad really ,but you got to make money some how. Those are both the drawbacks and the pros of oil pits.
Movement is a good theme for the oil in the sand because oil is a non renewable resource and the country that has access to it can make a lot of profit. Canada having all of this oil is great for them because when we start getting really low on oil they will still have access to it and it won’t cost as much for them to get it as it will for other countries. The Canadians will have access to oil when many places around the world will not.
ReplyDeleteBENIFTS AND DISADVANTAGES
The obvious disadvatage to the oil sand is what they have to do to get it. They have to distroy large amounts of forests, and that hurts the wildlife living there. Canada also gets a great benifets for getting the oil as well. Everyone wants oil in the world; it powers everyones cars and machinary. By having a limited resourse that everyone needs they're economy will be thriving and if the progections are right and the oil really will cost 120 dollars per gallon in 2030 Canada could even become an economic super power.
This is an example of human enviorment interaction. The land is being dug up and destroyed and will continue to be destroyed until there is no more oil and by then it will be to late to save the land and animals.
ReplyDeleteThe pros are that the Canadian government will make a good amount of money and it will provide jobs for a lot of people. Although the cons are that it will destroy the enviorment. To me, it doesnt seem worth it for a resource that will run out anyway.
Allison Lucht
- This article has everything to do with human environment interaction. The oil companies are destroying the land, completely demolishing it, to get to the oil sands. They use these huge machines that use up 50 gallons of diesel fuel every hour, which is a lot. They are letting so much pollution get into the air just to get the oil that is just going to get burned and used up and let more pollution into the air. Pretty soon there isn’t going to be any oil left, or any land since they are destroying it.
ReplyDelete-The Canadian oil-sands have affected the country of Canada in a positive way by providing the country with more oil. This oil brings a lot of money into the country and also just oil in general for them to use. Since they have so much of it they can sell it for a profit to other countries that want it.
It has also affected their country in a negative way. While they think that digging up all of this oil is a good thing it’s doing horrible things to the earth. They are destroying all of the land, by moving it out of the way to get the oil. They are hurting the eco system, those ducks flying and landing in the oil lakes which they thought was water and dying proves that. I think they need to find a better way to get the oil that won’t hurt the earth so much, I mean after all this is the only earth we will ever get; we have to be nice to it!
~Marissa Westphal:)
3rd time I've tried posting this blog and it's deleted itself. Just love it. This article is mainly about human environmental interaction. It is about how the Canada is drilling oil from the land and killing the wildlife around it. Although drilling oil is one of the more major income for Canada, is it worth killing the plants and animals to do it due to lazy and irresponsible clean up crews? I wouldn't think this is a bad thing, just as long as the wildlife isn't being killed, and the land used has the future of a good occupation. This could be anything such as houses, stores, or even small towns.
ReplyDeleteSelling the oil is a great economy booster. It makes a decent income for something naturally on the land. Although it isn't an advantage because of the costs it is going to take for other publicists and protesters about the whole deal of killing the environment. It also gives jobs to those around to drill the oil and/or works on the drill sites. This could helps the citizens make honest living and bring some food to the table. Afterwards like I said they could sell the land. The fact of harvesting oil on your own land is nice, but killing the environment is not. Finding a better way to dispose of the wastes is the best possible solution to making almost everyone happy.
Nick Brekken
Canadian oil-sands have affected Canada both positively and negetively.
ReplyDeleteThis artical sounds very much like human enviroment interactions because its telling how it's hurting the people in that area with the danger of the oil, and ruined much of their land. They took out so much stuff such as dirt and sand, for their oil. Its just going to ruin the enviroment, and the people that say that their are certain types of things in water that can kill fish and for people to be getting deiases as well. Its not right to be doing this to a beautful place such as Canada. Everything that we are doing is just destroying everything. They really should consider what they are doing to there land and if they keep continuing this they probley wont have anything left.
ReplyDelete-Jordyn Gallup
~The canadian oil-sands are very helpful to canada, and it is an great example of movment. With the over amount of oil they can produce they have plenty to trade with all thier trusting countrys, including the united states. We can now get more oil from them at a cheaper price. All the people in the Proviences next to those oil sands most likly have cheaper oil and very easy acess to good oil.
ReplyDelete~The country of Canada benifits from this oil acess very much. They have plenty of oil for them selfs but can also get plenty of money from trading with country that dont have much oil. They also have thier downfalls for dilling that oil. they destoy that land, so now they dont have any chance of building houses or any thing benifial. also they can be held responsible for oil spills and the pollution of those oil spills.

ReplyDeleteThis is an example of movement because it's showing Canada using there access to goods, or one main good; oil. Unlike many other areas in the world, like our country for example, they have a great access to oil that they can use freely. This is an example of human enviormental interaction because it is showing how canadians use there enviorment which is rich in oil in advantage.
ReplyDeleteThere are some pretty greay ways this oil acess is benificial to canada. It is obviously nice to have there own area that is so rich in oil seeing as how oil is such a neccesity for every day needs. IT is also a good way to get money from trading with other countries like us and it could earn them friendships with other countries. Howeve there are the obvious hazards that coem with this oil access. The polution is a big one and a risky thing for any country to be responsible for. This also kills animals who dont know taht the oil areas are not good homes. Also using so much of the land takes away from other things like housing and forests. This is a very controversial thing.

this story about Canadian oil-sand relates to movement because it says in beginning of story how people who live there have access to goods and services like for food they can hunt but sense they are logging that will run animals out of the hunting land and then eventually kill them off for good and it will destroy plant life to and yes when the log they will get more money for food and everything else but the pollution it is still a tiny bit of the worlds co2
ReplyDeleteand yes this country benefits a lot from the oil it gives them a lot of money trading other places and the bad part of all this drilling it that they mess up there land so then it pollutes water around and peoples wells at there homes so then it poisons people and then also there would not be enough land to build houses so then there will be less and less people living in Canada and more people moving to the U.S.A.
This article is connected to Human Environment Interaction mainly. This oil company, Syncrude, has changed the terrain and the wildlife of northeastern Alberta. They've also cause pollution problems around this area with there giant machines that also uses a ton of fuel. These oil sands make jobs but it effects our environment way to much and is the dirtiest oil in the world. About half our oil that we import from Canada is from these "death pits". The land and terrain will be changed forever, it will never be the same again.
ReplyDeleteThere are many positive and negative effects of the Oil Boom in Canada. The United State's most imported oil comes from Canada. Another positive is that it creates jobs for jobless people in northeastern region of Alberta. Even if this is the dirtiest oil in the world, it still powers our cars and industries. Some negative effects are that these "oil pits" effect the environment; changing the terrain, kills animals, and has caused pollution in the lakes and rivers. There is also pollution in the air by CO2, which can sometimes lead to sickness. These are some positive and negative effects on Canada's "Oil Boom".
This article is related to human environment interaction because we are drilling oil from the land that is polluting the air, land and water around that area. For the areas to drill for oil are destroying habitat for wild animals and many plants. If we don’t stop destroying habitat for our obsession over oil one of theses days one of the most beautiful places on earth could turn into a oil drilling sand.
ReplyDeleteOil sands in Canada really help them out because oil is one of Canada’s largest exports which lets them gain more money but with a price to pay. With all of the oil drilling comes consequences they are destroying their countries natural beauty. If Canada just keeps on destroying its habitat for animals and proper drinking water that they might see some precious animals depleting. Canada could find another way to drill oil without destroying as much habitat for animals.

This article is connected to Movement because of the great access to the oil that Canada has in their country. In 20 years countries will have a greater need for oil, which will help Canada rake in the money. Canada has access to a natural resource that many countries want. When you have something that people want, thay will buy it from you or trade you for it.
ReplyDeletePros/Cons: One bad thing about the oil mines is that it causes pollution, nasty mud, and sand to scatter all around the area that can kill birds or other animals. In the article, it said that about 500 birds landed in the oil because of confusion, and died. That's definately not a good thing to be killing the amazing wildlife that Canada also has. The mining also did take a great deal of money to construct, but it adds a long term advantage for Canada. In about 20 years or so, more countries will be wanting oil, and Canada can start to make profit.

This article is connected to human enviroment interaction for some reasons. One reason is that the company Syncrude is destroying the envrioment. It is killing animals and ruining their enviroment. It is also polluting the enviroment because the oil is some of the dirtiest oil in the world and Syncrude is one of the largest producers in the world.
ReplyDeleteThis "oil boom" in Canada has many positives and negatives. One positive is that it is producing a lot of oil for around the world and Canada. It probably produces thousands of jobs and that is big for Canada and that helps their unemployment rate. One negative is that this oil is some of the dirtiest oil in the world. It cant be good for the enviroment. Another negative is that it is destroying the enviroment. Like it said in the article a duck flew into a pond not knowing it had toxins and oil on the top and it died because of it. You can only expect more of that if syncrude keeps on taking down trees for oil sands.
Nick Strandine
The Canidian Oil-Sands is an example of Human Environment Interactions because it talks about how it affects the people in Canada by the oil from there land. There land has been full of beautiful landscape and then disipered to land full of oil. It may help the United States and other countrys because it has the most oil and it give them money but it also affects them by polluting there air and there land and much more. Think if the United States was full of oil, than more people would get sick, and than we would try and steal oil so we didnt have to pay getting us in a lot more trouble and it would just not be good. So i believe that is why it is Human Environment Interaction.

This article is connected to human environment interaction several reasons. first of all, the oil company Syncrude is taking place in the killing of the environment and polluting the lakes and rivers around the Syncrude oil company. In addition the Syncrude oil company is taking place in the killing of the world by digging up the earth and putting polluted waters in the ditches.
ReplyDeleteThe oil boom in Canada has many positive and negative things about it. One positive thing about the oil boom is that it is producing more oil for other countries around the world. Another positive thing is that it makes more jobs available for thousands of people around the country. One negative thing about the oil boom is that it is some of the dirtiest oil in the world. Another negative is that the reading said the oil is toxic. In addition to the toxic oil that we put in the ground it is killing the environment around the oil companies.

This is conected to human Inviroment interaction. The people use the land for hunting but we are modifying the land to take oil. they are ruining the land that the people depend on for manny things as well as a tourist atraction.
ReplyDeleteThis is negative torwards the land. by taaking oil we ruin nature. The land can get torn up and what if animals live near there, they would be destroying them too. If they take a little now, who knows what will happen later.
It is not that much positive except that we need oil for every day use. Try goin a day withought usin oil or oil made products.
You can easily relate the artlice "Candaian Oil sands" to human envirement interaction. The area the article described was far, wide, and green. Now..not so much, more like brown, and brown, and a little bit more brown. So basically oil companies made oil sands. Them being oil companies probably new what would happen, but would they care? Probably not...so thus after a few years slowly the forest and rivers are getting polutted. So this is human envirement interaction. I would have to say its not the good kind.
ReplyDeleteOf course it has its advantages. This is oil were talking about here. When you are a country with large amounts of oil you kind of tend to hold a valuble source in todays econmy. It gives you good money, not to mention good fuel for yourself, and most countries if lacking oil will tend to be just a tad bit nicer to you.
Then theres all those bad side effects. On one side they have got the oil but lets see they are losing forests and animals, basically making their land look like poop.
Thats just peachy. Just the way they get the oil pollutes the earth with carbon dioxide. Now i understand that every way does, but three times more then saudi arabia? Ha sounds ridiculous....
hey but on the bright side atleast they've got their oil.
I think that this article is related to human environment interaction because of the fact that the oil being dug up by people gives people jobs and gives other countries and itself a good oil supply. Its also that because it is humans using the earth for its natural resources even though its not the best for nature because of its toxic properties.
ReplyDeleteOne of the reasons that oil-sands help the country of Canada is because it is one of its major exports and helps give people jobs. It also is good because it helps Canada get money to use to buy goods from other countries. It is also a good trade item. Canadian oil-sands are bad for Canada because it is very toxic and destroys the beautiful environment around it. They should find cleaner ways to obtain the oil so it will not hurt the environment as much. It also destroys animal habitats because the have to clear forest area to get to these certain areas to get the oil.
This Article is connected to Human Environment Interaction for many reasons. A key connection can be made by that for Canada to reach the oil they must go through several processes for the final result which greatly effects the land. In those processes whole forests are cut down and layers of dirt are dug up. Our need for oil is taking away from the environments natural state, are we harming or helping mankind?
ReplyDeleteCanada's Oil-Sands have put positive and negative imput on this country. Positively it has brought the business to this country opening up several things such as wealth, job opportinities, and maybe even more allies. Over all though, the oil business as brought great negativity. A big issue is the distruction of habitat for wildlife. The oil workings are causing pollition that over time will bring dispare to the animals of canada living in the forests. I hope we can find a way to solve this issue.
This article is related to human enviroment interatction. The humans are destroying the land around them by not disposing the natural resources in a clean way, which is polluting the air, land, and water.
ReplyDeleteThe canadian oil sands is good for helping of the economy, a good trade product, and it gives canadians jobs. It really pollutes the earch and affects the wildlife. They are killing the animals and and losing rain forests. There are no longer trees and wildlife there is only machinary left.
This article is connected to human environment interaction because many people are given jobs to support their families by mining for oil. Also all the oil that is being exported from Canada to other countries is causing major pollution to the air. All the gas being used for the machinery to dig for oil is also adding pollution to the air. One other way this article is connected to human environment interaction is because of all the land the people destroy to dig for oil in Canada.
ReplyDeleteCanada's oil-stands have affected them both in positive and negative ways. Some positive ways oil has affected them is that they have a way to make a large profit of money by exporting oil to other countries. By exporting goods like oil to other countries it has a positive impact on Canada because it helps make close alliances with other places around the world which would always be a good, helpful thing to have to be a developed country. By digging up oil they are providing many people with jobs to support themselves and family.
Some negative things oil mining in Canada creates is destruction of the land, and it also kills many animals because mining destroys their homes. It is a dangerous job to have and it requires someone to be working at all times. But the biggest problem oil creates is pollution to the air. It does much more damage to the air than natural gas does, but it is their way of making money. Yet if they keep producing so much oil they will eventually run out of it, and run out of land. When they destruct the land to make room for mining they are also wrecking some of their tourist attractions of Canada's land features.

++This article is related to human enviroment interatction. The humans are destroying the land around them by not disposing the natural resources in a clean way, which is polluting the air, land, and water.
ReplyDeleteThe canadian oil sands have affected them both in positive and negative ways. It is good for helping our economy, it is a good trade product, and it gives canadians jobs. There are no longer trees and wildlife there is only machinary left. All t he oil that is being exported from Canada to other countries is causing major pollution to the air. While they keep producing so much oil, sooner or later it will run out, and run out of land to destroy.I hope that there will be a solution to this problem.
This article is directly involved with human environment interaction. The land in Canada was once full of nature and not even electricity was available. Now since the 1970s and 1980s things have changed drastically from nature to pollution. Now, there is oil holes that cause extreme pollution and the process that goes with it. The process has to dig so much of the natural life and than pollute the rivers. This is caused by the people because Canada exports it so they can get money, and it gives them jobs to do so. U.S. exports it from them so we can have electricity and run our cars, etc.
ReplyDeleteIn this article their is both positive and negative effects. The positive are is that this gives people in Canada jobs when we have a high unemployment rate. Also, that Canada is a high exporter of oil, that it gets them their money to be able to support themselves and their families. But their also is negative effects, look at how much their beautiful land is getting destroyed. So much of their "mother nature" is getting ripped down and soon enough it will be nothing... Also, that oil is a fossil fuel and once it runs out, it is gone forever and that is extremely negative effect for our soceity.
This article deals with human enviroment interaction because they use the sand and destroy it so it will be something else. They destroy the wonderful lakes up there. They polute the air with all the smoke from the factories as well. With making this oil they are ruining their waters, the air, and the land that even Boucher personally knew and loved. The producing of the oil is also releasing a lot of carbon emissions, which would effect the entire world. It is so bad for the enviroment and we need to do something to change that. So this article is related to human enviroment interaction because making this oil they are ruining beautiful land of Canada as they know it, but are also using their land to do it.
ReplyDeleteThough those companies hurt the envrioment making the oil, the oil has boosted them economically. They export it to other countries, like the U.S.. It provides jobs too but thats about it. which would be about the only positive thing about it. But negatiely-wise they have hurt and destroyed much of their Canada land. I felt sad as i read the article, I saw Boucher's perspective when he was a kid with his grandfather, how they had a wood cabin in the forest, that later on was teared down. I hope that they stop ruining the land they love because their end up with nothing left good for them. it doesn't solve any of our global warming problems either, it just adds on.

The Candadian oil article is related to movement because Canada is one of the biggest oil producing countries. Canada shares some of their oil with other countreis that are less fortunate by not having oil producers in their country, or not producing very much oil, at least not enough to provide for theirselves.
ReplyDeleteThe Canadian oil, has a good and bad affect on their country. A good affect is that they produce many oil mines and that they can sell their oil to other countries. Also many Americans say "Anything that reduces our dependence on Middle Eastren oil, is a good thing". Afew bad affects are that it kills the animals, and it could end up seeping into lakes and rivers, which would be causing more of the world's pollution. Oil sands aren't always a wealthy thing either. In the past decade, they had spent over $50 billion on construction to the sands, and in 2008 they spent almost $20 million alone for the same reason.
The Canadian Oil-Sands are a good example of Human Enviorment Interaction for the fact that we must destroy certain parts of the area to drill oil to fuel the world. Even though Canada isn't one of the top 3 oil producers we still destroy the enviorment and the animals surronding it will lose there homes and die most likely.
ReplyDeleteCanada gains millions and billions of dollars from there export of oil and so it pumps money into its economy. Yet as I said before it destroys the enviorment. If Canada used some of its money made from drilling to rebuild the lands there would be no real negativity from this. Yet I'm sure the Canadian goverment would rather have a fund raiser to make money for that instead of using its own.
This relates to human environment interaction because Canada was once full of trees and nature now because of the Canadian oil sand industry has been destroying the area around it and polluting the air and the bodies of water around it. Killing the habitats of the animals that take shelter around there.
ReplyDeleteThe Canadian oil sands company helps Canada by producing a large increase for the economy. It also provides employment to the people of Canada. Yet it also destroys environments of the wildlife surrounding the drill sites. If Canada would find a more efficient way to drill around the habitats of the wildlife or spent some of the money on rebuilding the habitats or someway relocate the habitats of the wildlife.
This article is closely related to human-environment interaction. The Canadians are using their land to produce oil for themselves and other countries like the US. They are affecting the land by making once dense forests, into a giant mud puddle that is utterly useless. They are polluting, not only the land, but also the air and water as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Canadian oil-sands are good and bad for the Canadians. It is good to produce an excess of oil so they not only supply themselves but can export it to the US and other countries. It provides jobs for a lot of people in Canada, and in effect keeps their economy stable. The oil-sands are bad too though. They pollute the area around the oil-sands and their pollution can even reach around the world. They have made it so that wildlife cannot live in any of those areas. These superb forests have been turned into massive mud puddles.

Canada using sand to make oil is related to human environment interaction. In order to get the sand to make oil, they have to to dig up land to get to the sand. This could tear down forests, decreasing the number of trees. It would also damage the land since you are digging into it. The digging could hit a river, lake , or some kind of water source, which could ruin the landscape. Not to mention if they did hit a water source, it would ruin their work and they would have to move to a different area to dig again. So they would have dug up that land for nothing and they would have to tear another area apart and take the chance of that happening again.
ReplyDeleteThe Canada oil-sand affects Canada both positively and negatively. The positives are that they have an alternative for oil. The world also has plenty of sand. Sand can also be easily accessable. However, there are some negatives to this new alternative. There is a chance of the digging hitting a major water source which will harm the environment and everything around it. The digging will also scar the land. Most sand is found near trees in Canada, meaning they will bring down the tree population majorly if they do continue with the sand-oil.

It affects human enviroment interaction by destroying the trees, animals habitats, poluting the water supplies, but also possitively affecting people by bringing money into Canadas economy and giving other countries the oil they need. The oil industry is a big part of Canada's economy but it also affects the enviroment negatively.
ReplyDeleteThis subject affects Canada in many positive and negative ways. A negative is it destroys habitats as well as takes away human homes for building space. But it also opens up many more jobs for the Canadians to work at and support their families as well as themselves. This means Canada is more economically stable which is good for the country and their allies in the long run.
i know im late but
ReplyDeleteI think this relates to human environment interaction is that Canada is using the oil in the sands. It will just get more oil and more till they run out. They interact that they drill and strip mine for the oil and destroy the earth that’s there. That’s the way they use the land for oil.

I think that it is a good or positive thing that oil is being shared with Canada and the United States. Which also means that both countries are getting a lot of money. With lots of money it will help them with all sorts of things. So, I hope they keep sharing oil.
